FUTURELAB is a not-for profit research and development organisation founded in 2001. It involves 30 people It supports and drives innovation in learning with digital resources. It achieves this in three ways. Futurelab networks with industry, policy makers, educational researchers and practitioners, through events, Internet and publications. Futurelab undertakes and widely disseminated research in ways that reach a wide audience on salient issues. Futurelab develops prototypical examples of innovative concepts in learning with digital resources including embedded computer devices, wireless wearable devices, tangible devices, and computer games. It is supported by the UK government and also has considerable support from Microsoft and Electronic Arts. Its partners range from individuals to large corporations. Futurelab is currently funded for research in Education by UK DES( Education Ministry), BECTa and DTI (Trade Ministry). It also receives Industry support from 50 member institutions (including BB, SONY, Alcatel, LogicaCapGemini, Pearson, RM. Harcourt), Microsoft (!.5MEu) and Electronic Arts, IDA, Ministry of Education Singapore. It is a partner in Socrates: I-Curriculum Project, and IST Kaleidoscope Network of Excellence on Technology Enhanced Learning.
